Paul and Crystal, along with their 4 children, started their ministry in Avon, Ohio and have been in ministry together for over 25 years. They served for 9 years as world missionaries in Southeast Asia while leading pioneering teams and helping open up a closed and communist nation to the Gospel. In 2013 God miraculously called the Burkharts from Asia to Alaska and in 2014 they pioneered Chi Alpha in Alaska based in Fairbanks. Chi Alpha is now on every university campus in Alaska. In 2019 they co-founded "Alaska Student Partnership" a pioneering marketplace ministry initiative to recruit, train and send teams of bi-vocational ministers into Alaska’s remote and under-reached villages. Since 2019 they have trained and sent over 40 marketplace ministers to pioneer house church ministries in 5 village communities and have established a remote training and ministry center in Bethel, Alaska. Paul & Crystal currently serve as lead pastors of Kuskokwim Community Church in Bethel Alaska with multiple house churches in villages on the Kuskokwim river system while Paul serves as the Assistant Superintendent for the Alaska Ministry Network. They believe God has called them to raise up men and women who will minister in every village and community in Alaska. Paul is an avid outdoorsmen and adventure enthusiast who experiences God best and enjoys spending time with his family in the remotest places in the world!
